Are you an organization that serves veterans?
Veterans are often targeted for financial scams by predatory lenders and for-profit colleges. They can also face additional burdens financially and need particular help with addressing debt and credit concerns. Low-income veterans are especially likely to fall victim to homelessness, and veterans in general are more likely to be homeless than their nonveteran counterparts. By teaching veterans how to understand and manage their finances, we can help veterans improve their financial wellness and prevent them from becoming homeless.
To help veterans address their financial and housing concerns, Housing and Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) is offering FREE virtual workshops for low-income veterans in Alameda, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties. We’d love to have local organizations and agencies host our workshops to better reach the veteran community in these counties. We ask that the organization or agency host the workshop via Zoom, and workshop flyers will be provided by HERA. Each workshop includes an open Q&A with a HERA attorney. Please see below for a specific list of workshops we offer.
Are you a veteran seeking assistance, or struggling with debt or credit issues?
Whether you’re homeless, a homeowner, or a tenant, HERA provides one-on-one assistance to veterans as a non-profit organization with a broad economic justice and anti-discrimination mission. We advise on a wide range of financial and housing issues, from debt and credit to home preservation. HERA enforces special protections and assists with special resources for veterans at no cost. We also provide estate planning services on a sliding scale.
